Technology and the advent of social media has changed, and even normalized, the way hate speech spreads in this country.
Just like you, we're feeling overwhelmed and helpless. So we wanted to find a way to try and do something about it.
Knowing that Twitter is one of the preferred megaphones for extremist hate groups to spread their ideology, we decided to focus our efforts there. We turned one of their favorite tools into a powerful change-agent by making retweets of their message contribute positively to the thing they despise most: the quest for equality.
Once we’ve countered a hateful tweet, every retweet will commit a $1 donation to Life After Hate. We rely solely on monthly pledge donations from everyday people who, like us, are sick of the spread and normalization of hate speech.
If we can give pause to those looking to spread hate and possibly show them a more loving path, that’s a little victory. And if we all do our part to claim little victories, someday we might just win the battle against hate.
Life After Hate
Life After Hate, Inc., a 501(c)(3) U.S. nonprofit, was created in 2011 by former members of the American violent far-right extremist movement. Through powerful stories of transformation and unique insight gleaned from decades of experience, we serve to inspire, educate, guide, and counsel.
